Spykos was born in Brandfort in the Free State on a merino farm less than 100kms from Bloemfontein. He was educated in a farm school and spent early days on the farm learning skills in crafts like sheep sheering, horse riding etc. His father was a soul superstar in Exile in the turbulent 80s and achieved superstardom with the group Mix Masala and the Aeromatics with the hit song Frontstroke.

After a falling out with the baas in the farm Spykos decided to leave the farm world and move to the city of gold, Johannesburg to try his luck in the music business as he felt that he was born to do it. He struggled when he got to Joburg and he worked as a garden maintenance man for Baas Koekemoer in Benoni. On Baas Koekemoers way to a rally in Ventersdorp where a young Spykos was traveling with the baas to help out at the rally he met a famous radio DJ at a garage called Dj Dr Spanner.

Spykos was in the loo singing to himself, Ngiya Cama, mina ngiya cama Spanner was blown away by this lyrical genius and he offered Spanner to come with him to Joburg where they worked in his studio where they cam out with mega hits like :Siya Gambula then came Siya Swimma then Siya Braaier and Spykos was unstoppable.

The life of big shows and fast cars and fast woman was too much for Spykos where he found himself living la vida loca. Due to the pressures of the music industry Spykos found himself in rehab, where he recovered for addiction to some over the counter medicines and stuff.

He came out with a bang with his hit Single Birthday yam and his remix to Siya Swimma. Spykos is the number one ambassador for the Good life and Ghetto fabulous. Hola Spykos.
